Altna House and Lodge
Altnacealgach House was a beautiful Victorian mansion in Lexden, near Colchester, designed by acclaimed local architect Horace Darken and built in 1888 to be the home of Arthur Thomas Obsorne, heir to a successful brewing business.
The impressive building was originally built within a 75-acre estate with it’s own arboretum and orchard and although the grounds have been reduced the striking presence of the house itself has not.
Altnacealgach House was sold to Essex County Council in 1913 who used it and maintained it until it recently became part of the portfolio of innovative developers One Property Group, who will be transforming the house, two adjoining mews and a self-contained lodge into seven inspiring, spacious apartments and one lodge house.
The new properties will be completed to an admirable specification, whilst retaining all of the building’s original Victorian character.
